The Master Thief[]
Inside Shenanigans one day Nairb spots that Leo is alone. Nairb writes a note asking for the services of a master thief, knowing that Leo disillusionary believe himself to be one. The note ends asking for the master thief to meet him behind the Shenanigans Stables at midnight. Nairb then sneaks the note onto Leo's table.
The only problem with Nairb's plan, Leo can't read. Leo asks someone to read the note to him, but they are a fighter who can't read either, but they do draw a picture of a Goblin having it's head bashed in using his own blood on the paper.
Nairb ends up having to just tell Leo the information that was in the page, but pretend he was told by someone else. Leo is very excited about the message and is impatient for it to be midnight.
Leo goes to into town to buy some lockpicks. Leo stumbles into finding a contact, a Cheese Vendor, who can get him a set. Leo meets the Cheese Vendor behind the Blacksmith's House 20 minutes later. From a hidden hole the Cheese Vendor pulls out some wrapped bags of illegal goods. As the Cheese Vendor turns to pick up thieves tools, Leo clubs him in the back of the head with the side of his axe, but misses. The Cheese Vendor pulls out a dagger.
Leo and the Cheese Vendor go into combat. When the Cheese Vendor is almost dead, he flees. Leo loots the box. Leo takes the thieves' tools out from the loot, and then takes the box to the guards. The guard looks inside and sees halfling feet, dwarf livers, elf ears and is horridfied. Leo rats out the Cheese Vendor as the culprit. The guard asks Leo to keep quiet about this since it happened under the guard's watch and he doesn't want to be fired. Leo agrees then returns to Shenanigans.
That Night Nairb meets Leo in the stables and reveals his intellect. The mission is to interfere with the "Most Handsome Man Competition" behind held in 2 weeks by Woghorts. The most likely winner is Chad Smuggington, who Nairb claims to hate, and the bookies are giving the odds of 3 to 1 will win. Chad Smuggington's Mother, the Lady Smuggington, paid to have a "Wish" spell cast on Chad to raise his hotness to 18.
The idea is to have a heist to steal the Staff of MacGuffin during the contest. Woghorts is a 10-story tower that is 100 feet across.
The Tour[]
The pair go take a tour of Woghorts. The tour group has 10 other people. The tour guide, Rodina is a young woman around aged 19 or 20. The Magical Vault however is not part of the tour, and Rodina explains some of the magical defences.
Nairb comes up with the plan to make Peter, the boy Layla has a crush on, to enter the contest, in order to get access to Woghorts. When the tour group arrive at the Magical Dining hall where the contest will be held later, they see Peter eating lunch, so Nairb and Leo call over Peter to talk with him. Nairb convinces Leo to come visit Shenanigans later.
As the tour group gets to the top of the tower, Leo goes into the bathroom and runs into a female student, Bridgette. He shows Bridgette the note that Nairb gave him and claims it fell out of her pocket. Bridgette reads the note, finds out about it being about a "Master Thief" and thinks it is a clue, and takes it to the Head Master, an Elderly Man. The Headmaster asks Leo and Bridgette to come with him to his office. Nairb is left along with the tour group.
The Headmaster inspects the note in more detail in his office, discovering the goblin drawn on it was drawn in blood. The Headmaster is concerted by the note, and asks Leo to check out the back of the Shenanigans Barn every midnight, and report back to him every day what he sees.
Meanwhile, Nairb disguises himself as a female Woghorts student with magic, and steals a unfinished magical potion. While taking the potion, Nairb ruins the experiment going on and the Teacher demands Nairb's name. Nairb gives the name Cynthia Smuggington, saying she is just visiting in case she wants to come here. Nairb gets away before his magical disguise wears off.
Leo and Nairb return to Shenanigans. Nairb, now knowing the layout, explains how they are going to get into the vault. Use the Mop in Shenanigans at the right time of night to go to the Shadow Realm. Once in the Shadow Realm they can get into the vault and bypass all the magical security.
Meeting with Peter[]
Peter visits Shenanigans, but Layla acts like she doesn't care and leaves to see a magic show. In the backyard of Shenanigans Peter practices some illusion spells and accidentally make the ground look like lava. Nairb gets hurt by the illusion, and Peter confidently walks across the lava and creates an illusion of a bucket of water for Nairb to put his hands within.
Nairb and Leo try to convince Peter to enter the " Most Handsome Man Competition". Peter is reluctant, but Nairb & Leo promise to get him some new clothes. They three go to the tailors and get Leo the new clothes. Leo however still isn't confident.
Leo decides to test out the stolen potion, and gives a small amount of it in the shot glass and gives it to the barbarian who drew the picture yesterday. The small amount of potion makes the barbarian's nose hairs grow very long. Nairb and Leo consider giving the potion to Chad Smuggington so he'll lose the contest.
Layla says she thinks Peter is above entering contests like the "Most Handsome Man Competition".
The Ambush[]
The next morning Leo convinces Peter to enter the contest. As Nairb & Leo are heading back to Shenanigans they are ambushed by the Cheese Vendor and 3 men with clubs. Nairb casts Hold Person on one of the thugs, as the others attack Leo. Nairb tries to Command: Flee on the Cheese Vendor, but he resists. Leo kills one of the thugs. Nairb colorsprays the last thug. Just the Cheese Vendor is left. The Cheese Vendor throws a dagger, killing Leo. Nairb tries to take out the Cheese Vendor but is unable to and also dies.
