Recap[]

BEGINNING[]

It's an average day in Shenanigans. Instead of a LaSombra story Morton and Naina are playing with coins, Delanora is knitting, Kourie advising people on style, for example, for Morton not to use the balding-middleaged-man hairstyle. Having an open weapons proficiency Morton has Kourie suggest him on which weapon to learn. Party of course begins bickering and giving more fashion advice to the fat cleric. Then a silver haired 7’5” tall beast of a creature comes into the bar and introduces himself as Toofgib.

Soon enough a panting man runs into the bar and asks to help with a ghost out in the fields. Another group of adventurers though end up taking it since Morton has to go shopping anyway. Kourie is pretty interested in dressing the yeti up as well. Morton gets himself a club and a shield.

Party ponders where Aristotles went for a moment, but decided to leave her alone with her kittens.

They talk with the man and he instructs how to get to the Dunshire manor where the ghost appeared. It doesn't appear that they're getting paid for this job, but with Del's encouragement they just do it for the sake of goodness. They then schedule an appointment with Krewbarb to drive their cart and make their way into the night with dark clouds fast approaching.

FIRST BREAK[]

Party arrives at the overgrown manor house, the gate is open and there's recent tracks going into the property. Kourie chats up a local oak, heavy fast beast left a while ago and 4 lighter ones arrived earlier. Tree also mentions something about the thirst. On their way in party notices an memorial wreath. Naina notices what appears like broken cart with blood soaked in the wood. With rain picking up party continues towards the mansion with their cart, however their donkey begins freaking out part way through the garden.

Bergshire-0

They continue by foot and before they get to the doors they begin walking through a garden of statues, suspiciously realistic looking statues. There's both statues depicting fear and grace. The statues appear not to be magical though, but one spot seems to be missing, it's base has foot marks appearing near it. Party muses over this, but then continue on to the manor.

Morton being a polite man knocks on the door, then followed by rest of them shouting their random words into the seemingly abandoned building. Nothing responds to them and so the yeti begins searching for a kitchen with rest of them trailing after him.

Suddenly they notice party music coming from somewhere and without nothing better to do they begin inching towards it. Meanwhile, the yeti finally finds his kitchen in which there is a floating knife that almost impales him. They shuffle inside the kitchen after Toofgub after the doors had been wrecked, from there they can see many randomly placed statues in the back garden. Kourie instructs everyone to pick up some flour in case there's something invisible stalking around, in middle of that they hear a body rolling down the stairs and go to find one the previous adventurers. He appears to have been stabbed in the neck.

They loot his corpse and Morton tries detecting magic which pings off something somewhere, but then a mirror nearby falls and party freaks out a bit. No one takes the stolen golden cups from the man's pack and without being bothered further party ascends to second floor. There while talking a painting lifts up and is immediately destroyed, Kourie immediately splashes the are with a dose of flour which catches some sort of a wisp which they track to a bedroom. A voice then says “In this bedroom of all places, why, why would you?” Kourie begins trying to talk it, but then comes to realization it's not speaking to them likely. The voice continues talking, sort of respond to Kourie, yet not quite making sense implying him bringing 2 ladies to her bedroom. Voice gets angry and flings broken glass all over the room.

After a while they fling some more flour around and find a horizontally floating woman with rage on her face. Toothgub tries punching her which prompts angry flight from the ghost, Kourie pulls out a Fairy fire spell and party now gets a proper outline of her. She stops outside the 2nd floor window where she hovers as Kourie tries negotiating.

SECOND BREAK[]

Party is at an impasse and notices some of the other adventurers from Shenanigans which Toothgub tries to get attention of, but only succeeds in spooking him further. Party files downstairs where they happen upon a room full of vaguely outlined people, Kourie demands they all disappear since ghost aren't real while Morton is chanting a Turn undead. Mortons spell seems dissipate the figures and party begin pondering what's the deal with this when there comes sound of water sloshing.

They come to a butler cleaning up the bloody spot where the other adventurers corpse was, the man appears fairly nonplussed by all of this and tells them he simply dragged the body down to cellar to keep it cold. Butler tells them, the mistress of the house, Evelyn, was killed in a cart accident a while ago and the Lord Robert has locked himself in his bedroom. They confirm that the stable master indeed worked here and left with the other servants shrieking about a ghost. Before they get to the bedchamber Kourie begins trying to weasel some sort of a payment for this job. Since the butler refuses to let them into Lord Roberts bedroom they dismiss the man before the yeti destroys the door.

In a very fancily clad bed they find a husk of a man, still alive, but obviously extremely malnourished. Lord Robert seems to be sort of conscious though not responsive. Butler arrives and tells them that he was diagnosed with some illness of the mind and there doesn't seem to be anything physically wrong with him. He then tells them they buried Lady Evelyn under an oak tree so they find shovels and go to dig it up.

After about an hour of digging in the rain they find a coffin. Morton casts some protective magic and Toothgub tears off the lid. Everyone, but Naina recognize the corpses face from the ghost, but Kourie notes that the ghost had a ring the corpse doesn't have. Morton tries blessing it with some holy water while Naina's approach is poking it with a sword.

They rebury the body a while later before noticing the ghost hovering before Lord Roberts bedroom and Delanora followed by everyone but Morton run back into the manor. Inside the bedroom Del shuts the curtains which makes Robert who was looking at the ghost fall back to bed. Outside Morton chats with the ghost, but it only gets her do a drive-by on him while everyone else is inside.

Kourie dresses up as Lord Robert and Morton runs around outside.

THIRD BREAK[]

Party decides to move Lord Robert and then bait out the ghost, but the frail man grabs Del's arm and confesses that all of this was his fault, though they are interrupted by some chains wrapping from below. Toofgib peaks out the room and notices a figure with a sword in hand coming up the stairs. He tries ambushing it, but instead gets chopped in the chops. Party proceeds to fire 2 arrows in the yetis back until the enemy attacking turns out to be one of the adventurers from Shenanigans and they call for a ceasefire.

Meanwhile, Morton witnesses a ghost carriage crash into the trees further away from the manor.

Shrugging the man then proceeds to try and skadoodle out of there, but party noticing he has a backpack full of random items from the manor stops him, he pretends to leave his pack and then attacks Delanora from behind. Four against one the man doesn't survive long though.

Morton comes back to the party just as the yeti finishes mincing the meat. Their reunition is interrupted by a scream followed by Lord Robert falling off the balcony. Party confirms that there's no heir to the property, but there's a living brother with the butler. Also turns out that Evelyn was pregnant when she died. Morton checks on the body and turns out he died before he even hit the ground, Kourie then comes by and finds out that he was choked to death.

They interrogate the butler again to get down the details, turns out he sent her wife away the day she died and gave the stable master specific instructions before she departed. They get some shovels and start working on the graves for the Lord and the adventurers.

With final goodbyes to William the butler they take their kobolds and get back to Shenanigans. At the bar they see two of the four other adventurers that left for the mansion. They get Desmond and go wake up the stable master who came to the bar. They tell Desmond that they suspect the man to have murdered Evelyn on the orders of Lord Robert, but when they try waking him up a gold ring with an emerald falls out of his hand and it appears like he had been choked to death.

Party take the body to a local undertaker and then go back down to guilt trip the 2 surviving adventurers back down in the bar. They admit to breaking in through the window, but after getting spooked by everything apparently the two of them left before looting anything. Del ends up guilt tripping them in helping the party bury the adventurers while Del returns the golden ring to Evelyn's corpse which then promptly crumples. Toofgib tries removing the ring afterward, but the skeleton immediately animates and strangles him to death after which it goes back to being dead.  Party shoves yetis body into the grave and fuck off back to Shenanigans.
